Strategic Tech & Architecture Consulting

Bridging Business Strategy with Heavy Infrastructure.

We don’t just write code; we engineer the roadmap. Before you build, we audit your legacy systems, architect your multi-tenant platforms, and provide the technical leadership needed to scale without catastrophic failures.

Why 5K

Engineers in the Strategy Room

Most technology strategy fails at the handoff: a consultancy writes the plan, and an engineering team discovers it cannot be built. We close that gap by sending the same people who architect distributed systems and high-availability platforms into the advisory seat. The roadmap you receive has already been pressure-tested against the constraints that break real systems, which is data gravity, team capacity, migration risk, and cost at scale.

Advice from people who ship

Our consultants run production systems, not slide decks. Every recommendation is one we would implement ourselves, and usually have.

Findings you can act on

No abstract maturity scores. You get named files, measured baselines, severity grades, and a sequenced plan with effort estimates attached.

Strategy without lock-in

The blueprints and roadmaps are yours. Hand them to your own engineers, a third party, or us. The work stands on its own either way.

Consulting Pillars

Three Ways We De-Risk Your Roadmap

Fractional CTO Leadership

Acting as your dedicated technical partner. We guide your tech stack decisions, mentor your engineering teams, and align technical output with your business ROI.

Tech Due Diligence & Auditing

Deep-dive codebase and infrastructure audits for VCs, mergers, or failing systems. We expose critical vulnerabilities, performance bottlenecks, and technical debt before they cost you millions.

Digital Transformation Strategy

Architectural blueprints for legacy modernization. We map out the transition to microservices, cloud-native environments, and automated CI/CD pipelines.

How We Engage

From Business Model to Blueprint

Business & Technical Discovery

We start with the business model, not the repository. Revenue mechanics, growth targets, and constraints define what “correct architecture” even means for you, so we establish that before we open a single file.

Deep-Dive Audit

Codebase, infrastructure, data model, security posture, and delivery process reviewed against measured baselines. Every finding is reproducible, severity-graded, and traced to the system it puts at risk.

Architecture & Roadmap

We design the target state and the path to it: service boundaries, data flow, failure modes, and a phased sequence ordered by risk, dependency, and business impact rather than by what is easiest to start.

Leadership Through Execution

We stay engaged as the plan meets reality, chairing architecture reviews, mentoring your engineers, and adjusting the roadmap as constraints shift. Strategy that nobody owns after handoff is strategy that decays.

What You Receive

Concrete, Actionable Assets

When you engage with our consulting team, you receive concrete, actionable assets: System Architecture Blueprints, Scalability Audit Reports, and Phased Tech Roadmaps.

System Architecture Blueprints

Service boundaries, data flow, integration contracts, and failure modes documented to the level your engineers can build from directly.

Scalability Audit Reports

Measured baselines, load ceilings, and severity-graded bottlenecks, each traced to the component that breaks first and what it costs to fix.

Phased Tech Roadmaps

A sequenced migration and modernization plan ordered by risk and business impact, with effort estimates and dependencies made explicit.

FAQ

Strategic Tech Consulting, Answered

What is a Fractional CTO and when do I need one?+

A Fractional CTO is a senior technical leader who owns your architecture, stack decisions, and engineering standards on a part-time or retained basis, without the cost and lead time of a full-time executive hire. You need one when technical decisions are outgrowing your team’s seniority: you are raising a round, scaling past your first architecture, inheriting a codebase nobody fully understands, or shipping slower every quarter despite hiring more engineers.

What does technical due diligence cover?+

We audit the codebase, infrastructure, data model, security posture, and engineering process, then quantify what we find. Deliverables include a severity-graded vulnerability list, performance bottlenecks with reproducible evidence, a technical debt inventory with remediation cost estimates, key-person and vendor lock-in risk, and licensing exposure. Investors use it to price risk before a round or an acquisition; operators use it to decide whether to refactor or rebuild.

How long does a technical due diligence engagement take?+

A focused diligence pass on a single product typically runs 1 to 2 weeks. Multi-repository platforms, regulated environments, or acquisition targets with several years of history usually take 3 to 5 weeks. We scope the timeline against repository count, infrastructure surface, and how much access we get on day one, and we give you that scope before the engagement starts.

Do you provide architecture blueprints we can hand to our own engineers?+

Yes. Every consulting engagement ends in artifacts your team owns and can act on without us: system architecture blueprints (service boundaries, data flow, failure modes), scalability audit reports with measured baselines, and a phased tech roadmap sequenced by risk and business impact. There is no lock-in. If you want us to execute the roadmap we will, but the blueprints stand on their own.

Can you plan a legacy modernization without stopping our product roadmap?+

That is the normal case, and it is why we sequence in phases. We map the legacy system, isolate the highest-risk components, and design an incremental transition (strangler-fig migration, service extraction, dual-write and backfill strategies) so the existing system keeps serving traffic while modules move to microservices, cloud-native infrastructure, and automated CI/CD. Big-bang rewrites are what we get called in to prevent.

How is consulting priced, and can it lead into a build engagement?+

Consulting is scoped per engagement: diligence and audits are fixed-scope, Fractional CTO leadership is a monthly retainer sized to your team and cadence. Many clients start with an audit or a roadmap and then engage our engineering teams to execute it, in which case the strategic work already defines the architecture.
